The Cootamundra Heritage Centre, which opened in August 2001, is a museum located within the historic 1927-built Cootamundra Railway Barracks and Rest House. The museum’s permanent object collection focuses on Cootamundra and the surrounding district, and is enriched by 14 themed rooms covering topics such as the history of the Cootamundra Aboriginal Girls Training Home, Cootamundra at War, and Horse and Harness. Other displays cover transport history, the RAAF and aviation, as well as Home and Hearth. The museum is run by a small committee and a team of passionate volunteers who welcome visitors to drop by and say hello!
